Csaba and his family
Csaba was born on October 6, 2020, as a seemingly healthy baby. However, at the age of two months, he was noticed to be weak and had a drooping head, so he was taken to a neurologist, who initially attributed the symptoms to laziness. Later tests revealed that Csaba has SMA type 1, a genetic disease, which is a rare inherited muscular dystrophy. The family immediately consulted doctors and managed to get the child the necessary medication.
Dorothy and her family
Dorka was born with a very rare genetic disorder, a metabolic disorder caused by an enzyme deficiency. Despite her low weight and visible “oddities” all over her body, her parents did not know how serious the problem was when she was born. Her skull deformity and the lack of both cognitive and physical development became noticeable when she was 1 month old, and that is when they began genetic testing. However, the family had to wait two years for an accurate diagnosis.
F. Lénárd and his family
Lénárd had to deal with oxygen deprivation in the womb, and was born at 35 weeks. He had to be resuscitated immediately, was kept on a ventilator for 16 days, and required respiratory support for another 11 days. His infantile reflexes had not yet developed, so he was fed through a nasogastric tube until he was 5 months old, after which he was placed in a gastrostomy tube at 5 months old.
Dominik G. and his family
Dominik is a smiling, loving boy who was born in 2022 in perfect health. His development was initially uninterrupted, he was breastfed in 100%, turned on time, reached for toys, and gained weight nicely.
