Noel is a beautiful 3.5 year old boy. He was a much-anticipated child and his mother couldn't wait to hold her unborn child in her arms. His mother, who was born by caesarean section, was put under anesthesia. When he woke up from the anesthesia, doctors and nurses were standing by his bedside.
Doctors announced that little Noel was born with several abnormalities. The exact diagnosis was clubfoot, missing limbs, and closed fingers on both hands. The shocked mother was then given more bad news. In addition to the abnormalities, Noel was born with a stuck tongue and needed immediate surgery.
On December 24th, his mother was able to hold her baby son for the first time, 1 week after his birth.
The mother told us what she felt when she held him in her hands for the first time:
When I saw the tube sticking out of his nose, which was used to feed him, and the missing leg, I cried. Every mother who is expecting a child and is told at every check-up that her child is healthy and safe would collapse when she finds out that the doctors were wrong. But there was no time to grieve, because my son needs me!!! Noel will need more surgeries to be able to live a normal life at least to some extent.
By October 2020, his clubfoot had been cast 16 times, but since then, treatments have been postponed due to the pandemic, which has made his condition worse. His next oral surgery is scheduled for September. After the oral surgery, Noel's legs will be cast 4 times and then he will have surgery. Noel is a cheerful, mentally healthy little boy.
"It breaks my heart when I see the other children playing carefree and he can't go over there and play with them," his mother said.
They live in very difficult financial circumstances, barely having enough to pay for everything. His mother is raising the little boy alone.
Let's help Noel and his family realize his dreams and get all the improvements and surgeries he needs to live a fuller life!
