Our little boy, Zalán, was born 12 years ago. Shortly after his birth, he was diagnosed with a brain development disorder, high muscle tone and epilepsy. We have been taking him to physiotherapy and various other therapies and developmental programmes continuously since he was just three weeks old. He has undergone three surgeries to improve his mobility so far. At first, we noticed only very slight improvements, but now he makes significant progress almost every time. We are planning his fourth operation for this October. Zalán cannot walk or talk and needs help with everything, yet he is a truly cheerful and smiling little boy.

He really loves it when people pay attention to him and enjoys taking part in his development activities. Although he cannot speak, he understands the world around him very well. He loves his siblings very much; they are very important to him. He loves spending time with them, and his father and I try to organise our family life so that Zalán can take part in as many shared experiences as possible.
