Since birth, Szimonetta has been living with health problems that define her everyday life. In early childhood, she was placed under continuous neurological observation due to hypotonia, mental retardation and symptomatic epilepsy. She also struggles with her vision: her medical records show strabismus and paralysis syndrome (G8390). These conditions together pose a serious challenge for her in terms of orientation, maintaining motivation and controlling her attention. Szimonetta has undergone several EEG tests, cranial MRIs, as well as ophthalmological and complex special educational assessments. The National Expert Committee's examination found that she is a child with multiple disabilities who, due to her condition, requires special treatment and continuous development, and therefore receives care within the framework of special educational needs.

During eye examinations, it was confirmed on several occasions that his visual attention is poor, his spatial orientation is uncertain, and he is easily overwhelmed by light and sound stimuli.

His epilepsy has been kept stable for many years with medication (previously valproate, currently levetiracetam/Levil 250 mg), which fortunately has reduced his seizures.

Szimonetta now attends a special school, uses a wheelchair, and works hard for every small step forward — and we are all proud of her for that. Her story is about how, despite serious health challenges, it is possible to develop, move forward, smile and connect with others.
