Tomi was born in 2016. Soon after his birth, it was discovered that he had a serious heart defect and was suspected of having Down syndrome. When genetic testing confirmed the diagnosis of Down syndrome, his biological parents decided they could not raise him.
"Tomi was 6 weeks old, when I first saw him, I fell in love with him immediately, I knew he was my little boy!"
In the first year of his life, mother and son fought hard to stay alive. He underwent two major heart surgeries and a long period of mechanical ventilation, and the doctors prepared his mother for the worst, but thanks to Tomi's great fighting ability, he stayed here and has now grown into a very cheerful, ever-moving 7-year-old first-grade boy. He is still under close medical supervision due to his heart and lungs. In the meantime, it was also discovered that he is gluten-sensitive, and this summer he underwent a total knee reconstruction surgery.
Tomi is a very inquisitive little boy, he loves stories, he likes to play with his cars and building blocks. Two years ago he started learning music with a music teacher who specifically teaches children with intellectual disabilities using the ulvilla (color sheet music) method. According to his teacher, Tomi is very talented, so I definitely want to continue this musical development.
Tomi is raised by his mother alone and rising prices make it difficult to afford his gluten-free meals, utility bills, and improvements.
Let's help Tomi and his mother together so that they can overcome all obstacles hand in hand in the future 😊
