E. Kornél and his family

Our son, Kornél, was born on 9 November 2017 by emergency caesarean section at 32 weeks of pregnancy. During a routine examination, severe intrauterine circulatory failure was diagnosed. As a result of intrauterine oxygen deprivation, he was diagnosed with central nervous system damage (cerebral paresis) affecting all four limbs. Kornél is currently unable to sit, crawl, stand or walk independently, and cannot eat, drink or dress himself without assistance. He is a little boy with a physical disability and special educational needs who, due to his condition, requires constant supervision, special treatment and extra attention. He currently attends the Pető nursery school, where he receives conductive education. In addition, he participates in weekly physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and special education programmes. Due to his condition, Kornél requires continuous therapy to regulate muscle tone, increase joint range of motion and develop motor functions. Regular rehabilitation is extremely important to prevent joint contractures from developing and to promote independent movement and position changes. Failure to make progress can lead to increased muscle tone, worsening movement restrictions and a further decline in independence. Therapies are continuously and absolutely necessary to improve Kornél's motor functions and quality of life. Regular development contributes to the formation of a more stable posture, more efficient movement, and easier performance of everyday motor activities. Providing support can significantly contribute to Kornél becoming as independent as possible in the long term and living as full and active a life as possible, given his abilities.
